What to Expect

INTRODUCTION

Upon entering our office, the staff will welcome you as a member to our family. You will be asked to fill out new patient forms, which will tell us about you. We need to find-out what brought you to our office, and what your health goals are. They will also inform us of possible insurance coverage you may want to use, as well as, provide information about the office procedures and financial policies.

CONSULTATION

Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Vendsel to discuss your health related issues, address questions, and identify any concerns regarding these issues. This is an important process that helps us determine if Chirporatic care is a viable option for you.  Consultations are provided at no charge or obligation to help educate and inform new patients about the benefits of Chiropratic care and how it may apply or may not apply to your health issue(s).

EXAMINATION

Following your consultation, Dr. Vendsel will perform an in depth Chiropractic examination. This examination will include a variety of physical orthopedic and neurological tests, as well as, flexibility and range of motion tests.  This process is designed specifically to help determine the cause(s) of what your present health condition(s) may be.

X-RAY STUDIES

Depending on your specific condition, severity of your complaint and mechanisim of injury, X-rays or other testing procedures may be needed. This is done with your consent and is used when necessary to obtain the best information possible regarding your health condition, as well as, help Dr. Vendsel determine the proper course in your treatment program.

REPORT OF FINDINGS

Once all of the testing procedures have been performed, and the information collected, Dr. Vendsel will provide you with a detailed explaination of your health condition. This is done in order to allow you the opportunity to ask questions and make an informed decision as to whether you think Chirorpractic care is something that will allow you to pursue your health goal. Questions such as " Can you help me?" " How long am I looking at coming in to treat this?" "What can I do to help myself?" are common and encouraged questions. The more informed you are the better the results that can be obtained.

TREATMENT

At the conclusion of the Report of Findings, you will decide if you wish to pursue Chiropractic care. If it is your choice to do so, care will be in the form of spcific Chiropractic adjustive procedures, possible physiotherapy modalities and/or soft tissue mobilization techniques. Your treatment will be explained to you as you recieve it and is completely interactive so you can express any questions or concerns about the differnt styles and methods of care you recieve at any time.

Laying the foundation

Chiropractic care is like building a house – certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care . . .

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to need care 2-3 times per week for 4-12 weeks.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care

During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent injury. It is typical to need care 4-8 times per month for 6-24 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-4 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.
